Teen Humane Academy
February 8 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm$25.00
Have you ever wanted to get more involved with Whatcom Humane and the animals in our care but are too young to volunteer? Welcome to the WHS Humane Academy! Through hands on learning, guest speakers, and animal interactions, students will leave the Humane Academy with a better understanding of the inner workings of the Whatcom Humane Society and concrete ways they can help all animals in our community.
Animal lovers ages 13-15 years old are invited to attend our very first Humane Academy workshop where they will be submerged in the world of animal welfare and pet care. In addition to meeting other animal lovers, attendees can look forward to:
- Learning animal body language & pet care
- Meet WHS staff and learn about animal-related careers
- Work on service projects meant to enrich the lives of shelter animals
- Crafts, learning activities, guest speakers, animal interactions – and more!
If you’ve attended one of our programs in the past, activities are likely to be similar. We’d love to have you join us again!
Space is limited and advanced registration and payment are required. Payment can be made online below. Please click here to download the required authorization form. This form can be returned via mail, fax (360-733-4746) or dropped off in person prior to the workshop.
Registration will close Wednesday, February 5 @ 5:00 pm.
NOTE: This is a drop off event. Please have your teen wear clothes they do not mind getting dirty. Long pants and close-toed shoes are required. Please bring a snack or lunch for a break halfway through the workshop. As part of our mission to advocate for animals, we respectfully encourage attendees to please bring only vegetarian or vegan food with them to our facility.
